Concept & Subject 

“Idillio: sul nome Fernanda, Op. 8” is an intimate, programmatic work for solo harp. The entire composition is essentially monothematic, developed from a single musical cryptogram derived from the letters of the name "Fernanda" through the traditional historical technique of soggetto cavato.

The Fibonacci Architecture 

The defining structural characteristic of the piece lies in its rigorous rhythmic and metric evolution, governed by the mathematical progression of the Fibonacci Sequence (1, 2, 3, 5, 8...). As the piece progresses, it undergoes a gradual and systematic intensification of rhythmic and metric density:

• Exposition (1 & 2): The main cryptogram theme is introduced utilizing simple, spacious rhythmic values representing the foundational numbers of the sequence.

• First Development (3): The theme shifts a perfect fifth higher than the initial tonality. The rhythmic acceleration corresponding to number 3 of the sequence unfolds across two distinct sub-sections: first, through continuous, flowing triplets over a steady 4/4 meter; second, in the Ben Ritmato section, where a metric shift occurs (Quarter Note = Dotted Eighth Note), introducing an urgent, driving momentum.

• Second Development / Andante (5): Reaching the core of the work, the theme is restated in its entirety but framed within an asymmetrical 10/16 meter, directly reflecting the number 5 of the sequence. Formally, this section integrates the classic structural archetype of a Minuetto with Ritornelli (A-B-A), providing clear formal balance to the experimental metrical canvas.

• Finale (8): The structural journey culminates in a brilliant Animato in 4/4. The number 8 is manifested through an intensive, driving texture of 16th-note quadruplets (the musical symbol of 8). Amidst this high-energy rhythmic drive, the melodic theme returns in a deeply expanded, augmented form—doubling its original phrase length—perfectly balancing rhythmic tension with lyrical breadth.
